Twenty-five years ago I was working in a nursing home feeling very discouraged about the lack of care the residents were getting. Then I was asked to visit [Larksfield Place] a new retirement/long term care facility opening soon-it was beautiful, with very impressive amenities. After meeting the administrative staff and hearing the philosophy they and the Board of directors shared, I knew I had to be a part of it. Since day one the goal and motivation at Larksfield was not about surveys and ratings. It was always about putting the needs and desires of the resident first. The excellent reviews over the years are a reflection of the highest quality of care and services we have always strived to provide every day.
It is heartwarming to work at a place that cares so much. The residents and staff help one another with programs like Circle of Friends and the Caring and Sharing fund. We also give back to the community with fundraisers and blood drives.
Working here has always been a lot of fun with many parties, contests and picnics.
There have been a lot of changes to the campus over the past 25 years. However, what has kept me here so long is the feeling I have had since day one of being proud and grateful to work here.
