For Your Care, Report Cards Matter
The Federal Government provides a helpful resource for people to use when choosing a nursing home for a loved one or for yourself. It is a website version of a Report Card. The grades in this case are stars with 5 being superior, 3 average and 1 poor. And, like a report card, the grades or stars are categorized by subject or focus area. The most tangible to your care are the categories of Inspections and Quality Measures. Inspections are regulatory reviews and surveys conducted by a State agency. Poor records with multiple serious or potentially serious violations result in lower star ratings.
Quality Measures encompass resident care information that is reported via standardized assessments to the Federal government. This data covers categories such as resident skin conditions, falls, pain, use of anti-psychotic medication for behavior management, etc. As with Inspections, a greater prevalence of residents with poorer care outcomes in these (and other areas) lowers the star rating.
Facilities and organizations that achieve 5 star ratings across each category are rare; among the best of the best. In Wichita, there are only 2 such facilities and proudly, Larksfield is one. A deeper look inside the data tells yet another story. By comparison nationally across the last three years and in terms of Quality Measures, Larksfield’s Health Care Center ranks within the top 5% of all nursing homes in the nation.
You have a choice. Where you get your care or the care for your family does matter. Better care is available and easy to find, compare and select. Wouldn’t you rather get your care from the best? In Wichita, that is Larksfield Place’s Health Care Center. Ask for us by name – Larksfield Place where “Better is Better” and our ratings prove it.
