The Orfeo Trio was formed in 2012 in Wichita, Kansas where they began their career as the official Piano Trio of the Wichita State University College of Fine Arts School of Music. After their first tour of Asia in 2014, they were invited to return several times to perform recitals and teach master classes. In addition to many recitals in the U.S., they have performed the Beethoven “Triple Concerto” with orchestras in Wichita and in Mexico City.
Although the Orfeo Trio is made up of string players trained in Russia and a pianist trained in the U.S. (Peabody Conservatory, student of Leon Fleisher), they have a common approach to making music. The three members of the Orfeo Trio are pianist Dr. Julie Bees, violinist Evgeny Zvonnikov, MM, pianist and cellist Dr. Leonid Shukaev.
