Jan Butler "Destinations" Art Exhibit Continues Through November 28th

Jan Butler was born in Geneva, Nebraska and moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1981.  Classes in decorative painting stimulated a keen interest in art.  She graduated from Wichita State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio arts with a minor in art history.

Themes are prevalent in Jan’s work.  “Destinations” is a journey with the artist to her favorite travel sites depicted in watercolor and oil.  She also has an ongoing series of paintings about transition in life with the door as a metaphor for safety.  Other subjects she enjoys include landscapes, still life, and animals.

Jan had the privilege of  working with a team of artists during the historic renovation of St. Anthony’s church in Wichita doing stenciling, gilding and painting faux marble.  She teaches watercolor and rice paper batik classes and creates handmade boxes and other paper items in a studio she shares with artist husband, James Butler. Her work is available at Gallery XII, 412 E. Douglas, Wichita, Kansas.  janbutlerstudios@hotmail.com/ 316.305.8246
