I, Witness to History

Established in 1996, I, Witness to History preserves, publishes and promotes life stories online and in print. This nationally recognized program offers many benefits. Families and friends receive an account of a loved one’s life, to cherish for generations. Community members who author their own LifeWork receive a tremendous amount of self-satisfaction. And perhaps most significantly, participants age more successfully.

Over the past decade Larksfield Place has published 60 to 70 personal histories of residents.

“Writing one’s story promotes personal insight and self-worth, restores a measure of self-control in life, and provides much needed social interaction. The finished product, the book, provides a sense of accomplishment and brings recognition,” says Terry Asla, director of the program.
